Trader Surface: View of Liquidity

I see Mostly has answered my initial SIFMA question. Could “View of Liquidity” mean that “independent software vendors” will drive the sell-side API to become king (Euromoney hints at this)? Thus driving an Open Source LatentZero (substitue your preferred OMS/EMS) style application that provides a trading surface (“single platform”) that provides a one-stop-shop view of market liquidity from any source (buy-side single dealer platform/ECN) within a single customizable/configurable application? Eclipse RCP for Liquidity? …. Possible late night madness?
