Single Dealer Platforms: Where Are We?

You can definately say that we are on the Single Dealer Platform (SDP) road – just listen to the rumours on the street as to who is building, evaluating or buying. By the end of next year anyone who is going to buy/build will have had ventured down the road, and anyone who hasn’t has probably already begun to regret not getting in early – there’s a minimum of 6-9mths at best to get an SDP off the ground, assuming you know what solution you want, how you want to brand the solution, and your overall strategy. It will be curious to see who makes the leap onto the SDP bandwagon in the coming 6mths – not just from the sell-side, but also from the product company viewpoint.

  1. Matt — interested in your estimate of “a minimum of 6-9 months at best to get an SDP off the ground”. That may indeed be true of the “build” option, but certainly not of “buy” (using an SDP framework, which gives you a flying start without in any way limiting what you can build). A recent publicised project at Nomura created a highly differentiated SDP in less than 4 months from start to go-live.
