User Stories: Get Them Right Or Your Doomed To Failure!

Mike has a lot of good things to say about writing User Stories. It’s just unfortunate that few people appear to be listening to what he has to say. Mike posted sometime ago on “back-end system” stories, and the need to follow the recommended template.

For me I completely agree with Mike’s template, I also can’t accept user stories with no acceptance tests – complete madness. There is also the obvious user story smells to deal with. I think one of the issues with Technical stories is that the team has failed to understand the concept of acceptance tests, and hence this failure has generated a technical story to resolve the badly written original user story.
