Adobe: Double-Down Strategy – Where Does This Leave LifeCycle Data Services?


Adobe restructuring of the business:

Our (Adobe) strategy to double-down on the two growth markets of Digital Media and Digital Marketing

I’m not clear which financial analysis briefing The Register is hinting at, but if true are we seeing the slow end to LiveCycle, and specifically the Data Services (AMF etc) that offer pub/sub messaging? Given Adobe’s push into HTML(5), and the existence of Websockets, coupled with the Open Source of the Flex SDK, the advantage of keeping AMF is non-existant?

Adobe also implied, in a briefing to financial analysts, that it is reducing its investment in LiveCycle, recently renamed as the Digital Enterprise Platform, which includes middleware to support enterprise applications with data services, process management, forms processing and more
