MapR – Google Compute Engine

MapR is now available on Google Compute Engine, which is of no real surprise.  What is also not of surprise is the usual list of financial uses cases on MapR’s web site  – trade analysis and risk mitigation being of most interest.  I think if you look at any Big Data web site, the financial uses cases list is pretty similar.

In the case of MapR on Amazon, the DynamoDB offering looks interesting from a data source perspective.  Anyone tried this with financial data?

Which leads to the question, how well will Tresata gain traction with banks given the cloud Hadoop offerings (and pricing) that is now available.
