Azure Thoughts

I’m hoping that in the next few weeks I’ll get time to do some Azure work. I’ve got a couple of financial application ideas that I’d like to try out. There are a number of posting around that detail how to build and deploy to AzureBrain has a WCF posting, and there is the Azure Training Kit available here, Stefano also has a posting, as does Nicke from a Silverlight perspective. David has a nice posting on the internal of Azure from a data center perspective 64bit 🙂 I wonder if Azure will take advantage of GPU’s?

The .NET Services SDK offers the Service Bus. Does anyone know if I can use the Service Bus in a similar way to COMET?

There is always the classic application (Monte Carlo simulation) from a financial perspective that could be run on Azure: “a trader can use an Excel client front end to enter trades which are submitted to a GigaSpaces compute cloud in the back end that has all the live market data feed, which performs Monte Carlo simulations using .NET PUs and returns the result to the Excel client for further manipulation by the trader”. It would obviously be more interesting to use Silverlight as the UI 🙂

Few interesting Cloud slides available here.

One Response to “Azure Thoughts”

  1. I’m really interested in using Windows Azure worker roles for doing simulations such as MC and Fibonacci sequences too, drop me a line as you start to embark on your MC simu, I’d love to know how you go and compare notes 🙂
