Nominated to receive an MVP Award in July 2011

Received this this morning:

Congratulations! You have been nominated to receive an MVP Award in July 2011

I’m pleased to confirm that you have been nominated to receive a Microsoft® Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award as part of the July 2011 award cycle. The MVP award and program was created by Microsoft to recognise the best and brightest from the technology communities around the world. MVPs are exceptional community leaders who come from a wide range of backgrounds; they are teachers, artists, doctors, engineers, as well as technologists, who actively share their high-quality, real-world technical expertise with the community and with Microsoft. With the MVP Award, we thank inspiring individuals that represent the voice of thousands in the community through the powerful and independent feedback they give us, and for helping our customers maximize the potential of their software.

MVP Award Technical Expertise: If you are successful, you will be recognised for your hard work in the area of Server Solutions.

  1. Congratulations!!! So is this a nomination, or will you receive it? I certainly hope for the latter – very well deserved in that case!!!!!

    • I think on of the issue with the MVP programme is that its way to focus on user groups, and doesn’t capture the benefit that people like myself offer (hopefully) to the community of a specific vertical/industry. Thoughts?

      • Yes, I agree totally. It has gradually gotten somewhat better throughout the years, but they (MS) are still very much focused on support on forums and UG’s.

Also, certain products MVP programs can be very “cliqy”, and if the “leading” MVP’s doesn’t like you – it will be hard. However it helps if you have good contacts with the product group people.

Anyway, I don’t think you’ll have any problems – with all the community effort you put in.

        Niels
